Across Europe, more than 70 cities coordinated their actions under the motto “Housing for people – not for profit! In 25 German cities, associations and initiatives called for actions on the European “Housing Action Day”. The Leipzig Tenants’ Association and the umbrella organization Deutscher Mieterbund also joined the demands for safe and affordable housing. Four rallies and decentralized actions took place in Leipzig. We were there in Connewitz.
To mark the day, the LVZ, as part of a feature, created a map under the motto “What can I afford” – the description reads: “Rents are exploding, affordable real estate is hard to find. You can find out here what proportion of your income is eaten up by living in Leipzig for rent.”
Tenants of Thierbacher Str.6 , Bornaische Straße 33, LWB houses in Kochstraße and Vernetzung Süd gave speeches.
There are a total of 74 apartments in the houses, of which 15 are currently still occupied – although many could still be occupied. (Tenant Kantstraße @KE5563)
